Eriksen Cycles Tour de Steamboat

Saturday, July 16th, 2011

The Tour de Steamboat is a century+ non competitive road ride that starts and ends in beautiful Steamboat Springs, CO. The initial event was hosted as a race by the legendary frame builder, Kent Eriksen, in the late 1970’s. The event was resurrected in 2004 as a non competitive road ride by Kent’s wife, Katie Lindquist and partner Brad Cusenbary. In 2008, Katie and Brad decided to turn the event into a benefit ride to not only raise money but awareness to the Sunshine Kids Foundation.

The Tour de Steamboat takes place on Saturday, July 17th. Ride the Rockies in beautiful Steamboat Springs, Colorado. There are three routes:

  • Route 1: The Classic Tour de Steamboat-110 or so miles
  • Route 2: The Stagecoach Out-n-back – 40 miles
  • Route 3: The Sidney Peak Ranch ride

Sunshine Kids

A benefit dinner will be held Friday, July 15th at the Sheraton Steamboat Springs from 6-9 pm. Dinner will include pasta, sauces, salad, bread and a cash bar. The Friday night Benefit Dinner, hosted by Prudential Steamboat Realty will be joined by a Sunshine Kids Spokeskid who will share their experience with the Sunshine Kids Foundation. All of this will be accompanied by a great pasta dinner to prepare for the next days ride and a silent auction to raise money for the Sunshine Kids.

It is the goal of the Sunshine Kids Organization to provide young cancer patients with opportunities to participate in positive group activities which promote self-esteem, personal accomplishment and just plain old fashioned fun! Funded by personal contributions, corporations and foundations, the Sunshine Kids continues, as it has since its inception, to provide all of its activities completely free of charge to the children’s families and hospitals.
