US 40 Construction in Old Town Steamboat Springs
Please be aware that a resurfacing project is taking place in downtown Steamboat Springs during April, May, and June, and then again during September and October of 2010. The speed limit will be reduced to 20 MPH through the project work zone, where traffic will be stopped periodically for construction traffic, and reduced to one-lane in each direction at times. Travel delays of 10 minutes may be encountered in these work zones.
Businesses will remain open for the duration of the project, with alternate off-street parking on side streets and surrounding lots.
Construction Schedule
Typical work hours are from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with some overnight work.
CDOT's goal is to complete the project by November 18th, 2010.

October 4th, 2010: Steamboat Pilot Newspaper - Lincoln Avenue open in downtown Steamboat
September 27th, 2010: PROJECT AND TRAVEL UPDATE FOR MONDAY MORNING - US 40 THROUGH STEAMBOAT SPRINGS
On Monday morning, September 27, traffic will remain in the same, current configuration. Due to a delay in equipment arrival, the inlaid striping work on mainline US 40 planned for today will now occur mid-week. As a result, the left turns planned for westbound at 5th, 7th, 11th and 13th; and eastbound left turns at 12th, 7th and 5th will instead occur later in the week. Work progresses with inlaid traffic markings such as cross-bars and arrows, with the smaller equipment.
Mainline striping will be completed as soon as equipment arrives this week--notice will be sent to announce the opening of left turns, and more!
